Meera has 10 years of consulting experience in the Australian Life insurance and Wealth Management industries.
She has supported a number of Appointed Actuaries with financial condition investigations and reporting for life insurers, reinsurers and friendly societies.
She has led independent assessments of the Risk Management Framework and Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process for a number of life and general insurers.
She has extensive experience performing and reviewing stress and scenario testing, including developing assumptions and models for life insurers and reinsurers.

Gaurav Agrawal

Gaurav is a Risk Actuary with over 10 years' regulatory and consulting experience across the general and life insurance and wealth management industries. As Senior Enterprise Risk Manager at Allianz Australia Life Insurance Ltd, he currently supports the Chief Risk Officer with end-to-end oversight of risks across the Allianz Australia Life and Allianz Retire+ businesses, risk reporting to management and Board committees, and leading the response to the regulatory change agenda. Gaurav's key focus areas encompass strategy, governance, risk and capital management and business partnering.
Prior to joining Allianz, Gaurav worked at Ernst & Young, Rice Warner Actuaries and APRA with experience across regulation and supervision, risk and capital management, independent reviews, benchmarking and group insurance tender management.
Gaurav is a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA), Associate of the Institute of Actuaries Australia (AIAA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation holder. Xiao Xu

Xiao is a Lecturer in the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies and the Academic Mentor for the Actuarial Society of UNSW. Her research interests centre around variable annuities, retirement planning and artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning. Xiao lectures various actuarial and risk management courses in UNSW.
Before joining UNSW, Xiao had three years of industry work experience in life insurance, consulting business and VC entrepreneurship. Xiao holds several professional qualifications: Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Accountant - Australia, Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, Certified Public Accountant – USA, Financial Risk Manager (2016), Fellow of Society of Actuaries and Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst.

Jason is an experienced insurance professional with a pricing and actuarial background. He has developed solid capabilities over the past 10 years in pricing and analytics, modelling, systems and various product knowledge spanning across both Commercial and Consumer Insurance. Jason’s roles as Commercial Pricing Manager and Pricing Manager have further developed and seasoned his ability as a leader, mentor and strategic thinker.
His key interest and skill set is his ability to look through the lens of different stakeholders and customers. Jason bridges the gap between using advanced analytics and the real world implementation of products that are often very traditional in nature.
Outside of work, he is an education faculty member at the Actuaries Institute, a fanatic basketball fan and foodie.

Giri Varatharajan
Giri is an experienced actuary who has worked in the superannuation and life insurance industries. Having started his career in Sydney, he spent over 20 years in the UK where he was responsible for a multi-disciplined team providing actuarial advice, benefit consultancy and administration services for a number of corporate pension schemes. During this time, he advised several pension trustee boards on the development of their risk and governance frameworks.
On returning to Australia, Giri worked in the pricing team at CommInsure and before joining the Insurance Risk Team at APRA in 2018. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia as well as the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
